Obituary
Wilford Andrew Glass

Fuquay Varina, North Carolina

Age 89.
Died 4/14/2024.

Wilford Andrew Glass changed his address to a new residence in Heaven on Sunday, April 14, 2024. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Grace Lucille Glass, daughter, Brenda Barden, parents, Roy & Ruth Glass and brother, Richard Glass. He is survived by his son-in-law, Ray Barden of Wake Forest; daughter, Aletha G. Kvanvig (Paul) of Apex; son, Craig Glass (Lori) of Fuquay-Varina; daughter, Jewell G. Szczesniak (Dave) of Michigan; his brother, Roy A. Glass (Dolores) of Fuquay-Varina; and ten grandchildren; Cody Barden; Kristen Barden; Eric Kvanvig; Ryan Kvanvig; Ashley Kvanvig; Samantha Glass; Colby Glass; Stephanie Szczesniak; Danielle Szczesniak & Kate Szczensniak. He was born on November 8, 1934 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The oldest of three boys, Wilford grew up on a sixteen-acre plot in rural Pennsylvania where he would pick beans during the day for his mom to can and helped tend to the animals. He began working at Acme Food Market in high school and helped provide for his family. Following high school, he attended Bethlehem Business School and Eastern Bible Institute (now known as Valley Forge University) in Lancaster, PA. Shortly after graduation, he married the love of his life, Grace, on June 20, 1959. After working over 25 years at Acme, he started his own business as a builder with his brother, Roy, and the two families moved to North Carolina in 1978. Wilford enjoyed getting to watch his four children and ten grandchildren grow up to embody the same work ethic he maintained for his entire life. A handyman and problem solver at heart, there was nothing he couldn’t fix, which kept him active, motivated and strong. He was also very involved at his churches and served for over 55 years between Central Assembly in Bethlehem, PA and Cross Assembly (formerly First Assembly) in Raleigh, NC. Wilford cared for his wife, Grace, in the last several years of her life and was the perfect example of love, selflessness, and devotion. He is remembered by his family and friends for his quick wit and humor and a heart to serve others.  A Celebration of his Life will be held at Cross Assembly (2660 Yonkers Rd. Raleigh, NC) on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Family will receive friends at 10:00 am with a celebration service following at 11:00 am. The family is grateful to the pastoral team at Cross Assembly for providing a community to Wilford through many decades of friendship, and to the staff at Transitions LifeCare for all the love and care they showed Wilford and everyone around him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Cross Assembly (https://crossassembly.org/give) or Transitions LifeCare of Wake Co. (https://www.transitionslifecare.org/donate/) in his memory.
