Obituary
Virginia Walker

Apex, North Carolina

Age 84.
Died 3/10/2023.

Helen Virginia Walker October 17, 1938 - March 10, 2023 Virginia Walker, 84, of Apex, NC passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 surrounded by her family who loved her fiercely. Virginia was born on October 17, 1938 in Hepzibah, WV to Joseph and Mamie Norris. Virginia was the sweetest, caring and most giving Christian lady who loved her family and friends. Virginia loved to bake and if you were fortunate enough to call her friend, she would make your favorite dessert, even when her body was failing her. She was well known for her various cheesecakes and especially her whipping cream pound cake. Virginia loved to travel and was always ready to go at a moments notice. Virginia was a fighter and dealt with many major surgeries that would have defeated most people. She had multiple joint replacements, but always fought back stronger than we could imagine! We often joked that she had to have her shoulders replaced from playing countless hours of baseball with her grandson, Corey. Virginia loved her son and daughter and loved spending time with them. Her husband, Jimmy was the love of her life and he couldn't get far out of her sight! Jimmy took the best care of Virginia. He often said his mother had him to take care of Virginia, and he did just that right up to the very end! In the last few years, as dementia ravished her mind, she still fought fiercely, right up until Friday morning when the Lord reached down and walked her home. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jimmy, her daughter Myra and son-in-love Mark, her grandson Corey, Corey's mom, Susan, and her great granddog, Murphy. She was preceded in death by her son David, her parents and 3 brothers. The family would like to thank three of her very special caregivers - Tausanna Evans, Zakiya Middleton and Sonya Caldwell. These loving and caring caregivers loved and took care of Virginia like she was their own. We will be forever grateful for the amazing care they gave her! The family would also like to thank ProMedica Hospice who also provided exceptional care. Funeral services for Virginia will be held Friday, March 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Swift Creek Baptist Church, 9300 Penny Road, Raleigh, NC 27606. Visitation will precede the funeral service from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.
