Obituary
Stewart James Dickinson

Cary, North Carolina

Age 78.
Died 12/3/2025.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a truly gentle soul, Stewart James Dickinson, who left this world on December 3, 2025. Born in Stafford Springs, Connecticut, Stewart lived his life with quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and a generous heart. He made people feel welcome simply by being himself — steady, thoughtful and endlessly patient. A lifelong lover of the New York Yankees, Stewart found joy in every game even against the Red Sox, the Yankees were a constant thread woven through his life. Stewart found joy in many simple, meaningful pleasures. He loved bike riding on the Tobacco Trail. He cherished quiet afternoons on his porch with friends and neighbors, road trips in his RoadTrek, and the comfort of a good mystery novel. He rooted enthusiastically for the local Durham Bulls and filled his days with the music of Bob Dylan and The Beatles. Nothing brought him greater happiness than his family. A devoted husband, father and proud Papa/Poppi. His greatest devotion and love was to his wife Janette, with whom he shared many wonderful years. Stewart lit up whenever he spoke about his children and grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with them — celebrating milestones, offering advice, or simply sitting together and enjoying each other’s company. His love for them was deep and unconditional. At the center of Stewart’s life was his strong and abiding faith. It shaped the way he treated others —with humility, compassion and grace —and gave him peace throughout life’s challenges. His trust in God was deep, an anchor that guided his actions. Stewart is lovingly cherished by his wife, Janette, and his children Greg (Mary Susan), Nicole Gallo (Gary), Kristen Piscitelli (Michael), Kendrick, Sarah Miller (Rich), Eston, Joshua, and Hannah who passed before him. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Zachary, Andrew, Elise, Simon, Maddie, Nikolas, Gabe, Ethan, Piper, and Chloe and reunited in heaven with his grandson, Sammy, who preceded him in death. All will carry forward the lessons he taught through his actions: to be kind, to listen, to support others, and to appreciate the simple joys in life. His absence leaves an ache that words cannot fully express, but his memory will remain a source of comfort and strength to all who knew him. A service to celebrate Stewart’s life will be held on Monday, December 15 at 2pm at: First Cary United Methodist Church, 117 S. Academy Street, Cary NC. Stewart’s lifelong generosity and faith in God was demonstrated through his dedication to the church and charities that assisted people in need. The family wishes to honor him and suggests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Cary United Methodist Church or a non-profit of one’s choice. May Stewart know how deeply he was loved and admired by many.
