Stephan "Scott" Burks

Wendell, North Carolina

Age 52.
Died 11/23/2025.

Scott Burks, 52, of Archer Lodge, NC, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 18, 1973, in New Bern, NC. Scott grew up in Garner, NC, where he formed deep and lasting friendships that shaped his life. He was a devoted husband, a proud father who cherished his children, and a loving son whose kindness and playful spirit brought joy to his entire family. His warmth and loyalty made him a treasured friend to countless others. Scott will be lovingly remembered for his dedication to his family and friends, his passion for music, and his love of fishing. He was also known for his legendary grilling skills, his unwavering support of the Carolina Panthers and UNC Tarheels, and his deep affection for the Carolina Coast, where he found peace and joy. Over the last 20 years , Scott built a successful career with the City of Raleigh, where he excelled professionally and forged lasting friendships with many colleagues. Scott is survived by his devoted wife, Tonya; his sons, Trevor Stokes and Van Burks; and his daughter, Carly Burks. He is also lovingly remembered by his mother, Cheryl Burks. He was preceded in death by his father, James “Jim” Burks Jr., and his brother , James “Jimmy” Burks III. A service to celebrate Scott’s life will be held on Friday December 5, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Baptist Tabernacle Church, 1599 NC-231, Wendell, NC “Scott lived every day like a favorite song-full of laughter, love, and moments worth remembering. May we honor him by doing the same.”
