Obituary
Sharon Elizabeth Spano

Clayton, North Carolina

Age 76.
Died 1/18/2025.

To all our Family and Friends, Sisters Diane Weber and Patricia Skelly, Brothers-in-law Dennis Weber and Sean Skelly, are greatly saddened to say that our beloved Sharon Elizabeth Spano has passed away, June 24, 1948- January 18th. 2025. She was preceded in death by her loving parents John and Grace Spano. Sharon so loved her nephew Richard Spano, his wife Tina, their children Erik and Danielle, Nephews Jason Weber and Scott Gibson. Sharon would often recall her times spent with Ricky. She adored him as a baby and because he was always happy and smiling, he was also the only one that could wake her without being greeted with a scowl. When he was a toddler, she took him for rides in her treasured Corvette letting him sit on her lap holding the steering wheel. Entering Ricks teenage years and throughout adulthood their special bond grew even stronger and unbreakable. Jason, oh my goodness. We were thrilled when we learned that our sister Diane was going to have a baby. Shar loved the boy Jason, was so proud of the man he became and especially admired his tenacity at becoming a Chef. They both thought she was the coolest aunt ever. And Scott, Sharon was so happy to discover she had another nephew, and although their time spent together was quite small her feelings towards him were quite large. Sharon would have wanted us to recognize some very important women who were always there to love and support her, Jackie Mikkelson, Anna Benedetto, Betty Saidel and Liza Reynolds. Sharon was quite the free spirit. After living in the suburbs throughout her young adult years Shar returned to the place she called home, Chicago. Riding her bicycle along Lake Shore Drive was one of her great pleasures. In addition to exploring the city she so dearly loved, her inquisitiveness led her to a passion for travel. She often reflected on the beauty and subtle nature of Thailand and its people, but was also drawn to the majesty of Paris, its architecture, its food and its museums. Sharon also had quite the ability to create beauty…. In her work as a hair stylist for her adoring clients who became lifelong friends and in the rooms of her home. But when the sun set and her work day ended she became the fashion icon with the swag her peers envied. Her departure leaves an unfillable void in our lives and yet we find comfort in the memories and everlasting love that we shared. So although we’ll cry because it’s over, we’ll smile because she happened. As you were, you will always be, treasured forever in our memory.
