Obituary
Robert Walters

Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 70.
Died 9/17/2025.

Robert “Rob” Alexander Walters, age 70, of Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at The William M. Dunlap Center for Caring (Hospice Home) in Raleigh, NC, surrounded by the love of his family. Rob was born on May 17, 1955, in Fayetteville, NC, to Thomas Harold Walters and JoAnn Watkins Walters. He grew up in Fayetteville, where he graduated from Terry Sanford High School in 1973. Rob went on to attend East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. With a warm smile and a strong work ethic, Rob built a meaningful career in real estate. He began in Fayetteville as a realtor with The Gallery of Homes, then transitioned into appraising with Harold Walters and Associates. Eventually, Rob established his own business, Robert Walters Real Estate, in Wilmington, where he made lasting connections with clients and friends. Outside of work, Rob found joy in simple pleasures, especially time spent at Pine Valley Country Club in Wilmington. He loved playing rounds of golf with friends and sharing laughs on the fairways. Rob was preceded in death by his loving parents, Thomas Harold and JoAnn Walters. He will be dearly missed and forever cherished by his children—Brent Walters, Chad Walters, Jordan Walters, and Addison Walters—who were his greatest pride. Rob is also survived by his brother Ed (Diane) Walters, sister Susan (Bobby) Puryear, sister Beth (Ark) Matthews, and brother Chris (Heather) Walters. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and their families, including Ben (Lindsey) Walters, Kevin (Danielle) Walters, David (Anna) Puryear, Jason (LaSandra) Puryear, Katherine (Micah) Vugrinec, Alex Matthews, Ashley and Emily Walters, and eight great-nieces and great-nephews who will carry on his legacy of kindness and love. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Transitions LifeCare® Hospice of Raleigh for their expert guidance, unwavering support, and compassionate care during Rob’s final days. They are also deeply thankful for the many friends who shared visits, phone calls, prayers, and encouragement during this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Transitions LifeCare® Hospice of Raleigh, NC, in Rob’s memory. “A Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date. No formal arrangements have been made at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to City of Oaks Cremation and Funeral Home, 4900 Green Road, Raleigh, NC 27616
