Obituary
Robert Morrison

Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 67.
Died 3/31/2023.

Robert DeHaven Morrison, age 67, of Raleigh passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, March 31, 2023 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born on December 7, 1955 in Chicago, IL. Robert is survived by his wife of 21 years, Melinda; his daughter Claire and son Max (Krista) and his pride and joy, his granddaughters, Mia and Ellie; his brother, David; nephew Ben (Lena) niece Jessica Valand (Tom); his mother in-law, Ardyce Behrens; his brother and sister in laws, Faith Downs (Jeff), Hope Ernest (Byron), Brian Behrens, Amy Brown (Pat); and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, father Fred and mother Barbara. Robert had a life-long career in the retail business which started with Noble Romans as a lead coordinator of new store openings. He continued his retail career in management, most notably, at Pretzel Time, KB Toys, Lowes, and Big Lots. He wore many different hats in his roles and made many contributions. He held his life-long friendships as the most successful part of his career. He retired from the workforce when he moved to North Carolina. Robert was an active member of the North Raleigh United Methodist Church and loved spending time in fellowship with his network. He spent many hours helping with the activities of the church the men’s breakfast, BBQ, security, server in service, and food. He loved every minute of it! After meeting Melinda, Robert became (maybe forced, ha) an avid University of Alabama football fan and they would attend a game any time they could. He loved to travel and spend time with his family. Robert also loved the other game of football, soccer. He played soccer through the years and coached his son Max and enjoyed watching him play. He loved hearing how his granddaughters were doing in the sport as well. Robert will be missed by many. He loved with his whole heart and had a personality that resonated with everyone he met. His sincere kindness will certainly be missed here on earth. The family would like to thank Robert’s care team for all the love and support they gave him through his complicated health situation, he fought until the end, and you did the best you could do! Thank you!
