Obituary
Peter James Faber

Shallotte, North Carolina

Age 71.
Died 3/22/2024.

Peter James Faber passed away Friday, March 22, 2024 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born August 8, 1952 to Ted and Rosemary Faber, and throughout his whole life was known for his joyful attitude about life even through tough times – not even cancer could steal his joy. He was many family members’ go-to when times were tough. Pete grounded people, listened, made a joke, and never, ever judged. Pete earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and worked for years as a quality process manager. His philosophy was to never stop learning, keep looking forward, learn from your mistakes, and look for the good, and he imparted this philosophy to his two children and seven grandchildren. While Pete always had a woodworking or home improvement project in progress, he also took time to stop, relax, and enjoy life with his loved ones, and he spent the last few years in his home with his wife Candy, the love of his life, in Shallotte, North Carolina. He spent many hours in his brightly colored and pristinely organized garage, working on various woodworking projects and maintaining his collection of Italian motor vehicles – his Moto Guzzi motorcycle, vespas, and Alfa Romeo Spider. After a day of projects, he loved to hang out and cook, have a beer or a home brewed cider, and relax in the hot tub. He said that home with Candy and his loved ones was his favorite place to be. Pete is survived by his wife Candy Faber; father Ted Faber; son Adam (Fred Wang Zhu) Faber; daughter Susan (Seyed) Khadem; stepson John Phelps (Katie Hufland); stepdaughter Margot Phelps (Brian Erdelyi); brother John (Gail) Faber; sister Sally Faber (Dana Williams); niece Katherine Williams (Avery Schneider); nephew Jack (Alayna) Williams; and grandchildren Cooper, Chloe, Charlotte, Cash Phelps; Hayden Khadem; Callie and Jacob Hufland. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Peter and Genevieve Faber; grandparents Edwin and Martha Koepsell; mother Rosemary Faber; aunt Mary Paulik; cousins Ann Hawkinson, Martha Koepsell, and John Paulik; and his beloved dog Skipper. Pete’s family looks forward to future epic parties, one of which will be his celebration of life this summer in North Carolina. In the meantime, we will miss Pete, his goofy and contagious smile, and calming presence. For those that knew him, it is okay to be sad today, but make sure to have a beer tonight, tell your favorite Pete story, and take time to remember the most joyful man you’ll ever meet.
