Patricia Helen Hartigan Obituary Obituary Ilion – Patricia Helen (Bergin) Hartigan, 82, of Ilion, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Duke University Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She was born on January 9,1943 in Ilion, NY the daughter of the late Clark and Katherine (Bowers) Bergin. Pat was educated at Annunciation Catholic School and was a graduate of Ilion High School. On April 18, 1970, Patricia was united in marriage to the love of her life, Joseph Hartigan, at the Annunciation Church in lion, NY. They shared 55 years of wedded bliss together. In Patricia’s younger years she was employed at Univac and at Ilion Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide. For most of the Patricia’s life her family was her work. She was an ever-present kind, compassionate and loving mother. She often opened her home to the neighborhood kids and in later years her children’s friends called her house their second home. Patricia was a member of the Annunciation Church in Ilion. She was a prayerful woman and her relationship to God was very important to her. She is survived by her loving children: son, Joseph Charles (Michael) Hartigan, Jr., daughter, Jennifer Hartigan Stutz and her husband Matthew Lawrence Hartigan Stutz; three grandchildren, Grace Caroline Hartigan Stutz, Patrick Robert Hartigan Stutz and Elizabeth Joy Hartigan Stutz; a sister, Adeline Dack, sisters-in-law, Jane Vooris (Gary) and Lorraine Hartigan; niece/ Goddaughter Megan Elizabeth Dack Dischavi (Anthony); nephew/ Ryan Vooris (Teresa); niece Meghan Vooris; nephews, Greg Fylak, Jay Fylak; nephew, Wesley Bergin; nephew Shawn Bergin; and 6 grand nieces, and 4 grand nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, her loving husband, Joe, her brothers Tom and Jim Bergin, and brothers in law Don Dack and Robert Hartigan. Patricia was a caring and compassionate woman. She loved to watch movies. Some of her favorites were: A Few Good Men, All the Presidents Men and The Thing. She loved to follow politics, and she loved her country. Listening to music was another of Patricia’s favorite pastimes. She loved the oldies. Most of all, Patricia loved spending time with her family and was happiest when she was at home relaxing. She loved to reminisce about her childhood and told great stories about her childhood and the adventures that she had around Ilion. She loved this little village and was happy to have grown up and lived here. Patricia was brave and overcame many struggles in her life, including difficulties with her mental health. She fought hard and succeeded in remaining connected and happy with those people in her life. She was a fighter. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
