Obituary
Norman Richard Hull

Willow Spring, North Carolina

Age 83.
Died 7/19/2024.

Norman Richard Hull, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 19, 2024. He was the eldest child born to Lawrence and Mary Hull on July 4, 1941 in Madison, Wisconsin. He was raised in Miami, Florida, and graduated from college at Florida State University, where he met and married the love of his life, Ann Thomason, on August 2, 1964.  After Norm's father retired, he became the owner and operator of their fishing rod company, Larco Tackle, in Miami, Florida, until it closed in 1986. He then moved the family to Willow Spring, North Carolina, in 1987, where he worked for a company in Fuquay-Varina, NC, setting up a fishing rod factory in Bejing, China. He eventually worked for American Airlines until his retirement in 2002.  Norm enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with his wife all over the world, building lifelong friendships with neighbors, talking to anyone and everyone wherever he went, fishing, deer hunting, and being part of the "Real Beard Santa" club, making so many kids smile while working at Cabela's and Bass Pro Stores during the Christmas season as their store Santa. Norm was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, Christian, and friend; he will truly be missed! Norm was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Hull, his brother Robert Neal Hull, and his son Norman Richard Hull, Jr. Norm is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann Thomason Hull, son James Lawrence Hull, daughter Suzanne Hull Barwick, husband Neil Barwick, granddaughters Sarah Hope Hull and Regan Elizabeth Adams, sisters Sherrie Hull Doherty and Linda Hull McCartney, as well as several nieces and nephews.  To honor Norm's memory, a service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church (FVUMC). Visitation will be prior to the service at 10 a.m. In lieu of any flowers, please consider a donation to FVUMC in Norm's name.

For additional information or for service details, please reach out to the family directly.
