Obituary
Nancy Morrison Baird

Clayton, North Carolina

Age 82.
Died 12/6/2025.

Nancy Morrison Baird, 82, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, after a long battle with dementia. She was born in Tennessee on June 18, 1943, to the late Fred G. Morrison and Ethel Hazelwood. She grew up the baby of four children and dearly loved her sisters and brother. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara Jean Chrisman and Virginia "Toot" Coker, as well as her second husband, David Baird. Nancy excelled as a secretary and administrative assistant with a reputation as an outstanding typist, organizer, and people person. She always spoke fondly of her time as secretary of Kern Street School in Thomasville, NC, where she formed strong relationships with teachers, the principal, and students for six years. After moving to Raleigh, NC, she took her skills to many positions with the State of NC, including the Dept of State Treasurer, Dept of Justice, Secretary of State, State Auditor's Office, and Dept of Labor, before retiring in 2003. After retiring, she moved to Spring Hope, NC, where she was active in church activities and volunteer work with Meals on Wheels. Mom/Nana/Big Nana had a heart full of pride for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an amazing cook with lots of family recipes to be handed down. She also taught herself to hand stitch quilts and enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, classic movies, any kind of book (especially biographies), working in the yard, being out in the sun, dogs, purple Keds, fishing, and the beach. She is survived by her son, Bradley Jones and his wife Melanie, and their children Will (Autumn), David, Seth (Sarah), and Anna (Joel); her daughter, Jennifer Jones and her children Andrew and Emily (Adam); and her daughter Tiffany Stivers and her husband, David and their children, Corey, Cameron, Sarah, and David. She was also blessed with beautiful great-grandchildren... Logan and Joey Mackay (Emily and Adam), and Cyrus Jones (Will and Autumn), as well as one more on the way for Seth and Sarah! She is also survived by her brother, Fred Morrison Jr, who was a close and faithful companion, as well as special niece Julie Lloyd and her husband, Joe and son Zach. No services are planned. In place of flowers, please contribute to any Alzheimer's organization of your choice and offer any support to families struggling with the disease.
