Obituary
Nancy Decker

Sanford, North Carolina

Age 82.
Died 7/22/2024.

Nancy Josephine Decker (Martin) born May 1st, 1942 in Flint, Michigan passed away on July 22, 2024 in Sanford, North Carolina. She is survived by her three daughters, Julie/Rick Abdella, Laura Routhier and Jennifer Gerstheimer. Grandchildren Elyse Abdella, Stephen Abdella and Janae/Jay Watts and Derek/Josie Routhier and great grandchildren Addison, Sawyer and Kinsley. Nancy spent most of her life in Flushing, Michigan. Living most of those years at the end of a dirt road called Bourassa Drive and always shared her life with the many animals that she loved. Nancy's’ mother’s family had lived in the area for generations and she was surrounded by memories of family in that two-stoplight town. It is where her heart always was, even when she spent her last years in North Carolina near her oldest daughters and their families. Nancy also loved music playing the flute and piccolo in high school marching band and continued on into college. She even earned a scholarship to prestigious Interlocken. She passed that love of music, especially classical music, on to her children. We also can’t talk about what she loved without mentioning that she adored and had a passion for clocks. She started collecting them when she lived in Germany in her younger years. They are beautiful and will be cherished by her family. One of her loves was interior decorating. Later in life, her house was always magazine perfect with each detail well thought out. Although, her children remember moving furniture monthly up and down stairs and getting couches stuck in hallways and laughing through it all. Nancy started her work in the medical field at Flint Osteopathic Hospital in the imaging department. She ended up making a career of it specializing in medical billing. She was proud of the work she did at the CT Scanner and an out-patient radiology office. She loved sharing stories about her work family and the many trips they would take together, mostly filled with laughter. In her later years, she spent time with her grandchildren where she made many wonderful memories. Graveside service will be held for close family in Flushing, Michigan on September 28th, 2024. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzeheimer’s Foundation of America.
