Obituary
Mary Lou Hollifield

Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 85.
Died 12/26/2021.

Mary Lou was born on September 3, 1936 to Martin and Sadie Harris in Sophia, NC where she grew up on the family farm. She graduated from Trinity High School in 1954. In 1955 she married Charles Edward Hollifield of Little Switzerland, NC. They began life together in High Point, NC. Mary Lou and Ed went on to have two daughters, Denise and Allison. Mary Lou worked most of her adult life as an administrative assistant and later as an office manager, primarily in the Charlotte area. One of the greatest joys of Mary Lou’s life was serving the Lord alongside her husband at First Baptist Church Matthews where he was the Senior Adult Pastor. Following Ed’s death in 2002, Mary Lou relocated to Raleigh, NC to be near her children. In addition to wonderful times with her family, Mary Lou enjoyed being a member of the Scott Bible Class at Bay Leaf Baptist Church, traveling with the Pairs and Spares Travel Group and playing Canasta with her friends. Mary Lou is survived by her sisters, Louise Breedlove and Joyce Williams, as well as brother James Harris. She is also survived by her daughters, Denise O’Donoghue ( Rod) and Allison Cashman (Justin), six beloved grandchildren: Courtney Bunker (Jerry), Erin Li (Chaoyun), Bella, Chloe, Phoebe, and Miles Cashman. As well as six beloved great-grandchildren: Tristan, Camden, Owen, and Landon Bunker, Alistair and Amelia Li. I lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse in memory of Mary Lou. The family will receive friends at 11am January 8th followed by a memorial service at noon at Imago Dei Church, 9200 Strickland Road in Raleigh.
