Obituary
Marjorie Dale Thompson

Sanford, North Carolina

Age 75.
Died 8/31/2024.

Beloved mother, grandmother, artist, teacher, and friend, Marjorie Dale Waring Thompson, of Sanford, North Carolina, departed this world on Saturday, August 31st at the age of 75. Marge was born on November 26, 1948 to Robert E. Waring and Clarice M. Waring. Marge was loved by many including her husband of 51 years, Gary Curtis Thompson, who passed away on May 31, 2023; her sons: Robert Thompson (Lisa Young), John Thompson (Cynthia “Cindy” Thompson), Curtis Thompson (Kristina Thompson), and Brett Thompson (dec. 2020) (Jennifer RemleyThompson); and grandchildren: Haydon Thompson, Savannah Thompson, Raina Thompson, and Clayton Thompson. For over four decades Marge painted and taught classes to countless students, friends and fellow painters. She was very involved in the Society of Decorative Painters, painting all the way up until August 2024, where she taught classes at the Oklahoma Painting Palooza. Marge was especially loved for sharing her time with friends and family, recounting stories (with modest embellishments), and being a supportive figure to those fortunate enough to meet her. With an intuitive grace, and a quiet nature, Marge met people wherever they were in life, always ready to listen and share a kind word. Marge was a skilled artist, with a passion for knitting, sewing, quilting, and cross-stitching. Marge generously shared her talents and crafts with those around her. She frequently knit blankets for babies; as well as beanies for Knots of Love, which provided free hats to children with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center in Cary, NC on October 6th, 2024 at 1pm.
