Obituary
Marc F. LaClair

Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Age 73.
Died 10/30/2025.

Marc F. LaClair, age 73, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away calmly and peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025 in Chapel Hill, NC with his wife, Linda, by his side. Marc was born on August 12, 1952 in Plattsburgh, NY, the son of Harlan and Naomi LaClair. One of Marc's greatest fulfillments was the honor and privilege to serve as Grand Knight: Council 9549 Holy Family, Hillsborough, NC 2019-2021 and Council 10910 St. Thomas More, Chapel Hill 2023-present of the fraternal order of the Knights of Columbus. He faithfully served for 35 years. His passion for leadership, his love for people and heart for the mission of serving others with his brothers was highly valued and respected. He was blessed to share the same birthday, plus 100 years, as the founder of the K of C, Fr. Michael J. McGivney (August 12, 1852). Marc is survived by his wife, Linda LaClair of 52 years, their two daughters; Jennifer Schmidt and her husband Dan, and Kerry Thornton and her husband Wendell; his four grandchildren; Timothy Schmidt, Kaitlyn Schmidt, Loralyn Thornton and Whitley Thornton; his brother, Ned LaClair and his uncle, Gordon LeClair and his wife, Eunice. Marc was preceded in death by his parents, Naomi LaClair in 1995 and Harlan LaClair in 1998. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Marc are welcomed at Knights of Columbus Council 10910 and the Catholic Daughters of America at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Chapel Hill. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 940 Carmichael St., Chapel Hill, NC 27514. Inurnment will follow in the parish columbarium.
