Lynne Walker Sorrels

Lynne Louise Walker Sorrels, 65, went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2022. She was born in Roxboro, NC to Henry Conroe Walker, Jr and Jean Beighey Walker Gordon. Lynne attended Durham County schools and graduated from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill with degrees in Speech Therapy. She dedicated decades of work to that field working in public schools, state and federal facilities, as well as home health agencies. Lynne was called to change career direction and went to work as a teacher and later director of the preschool program at Fuquay Varina United Methodist Church (Seeds of Faith Preschool). She contributed to the academic, personal, and spiritual development of hundreds of children over decades of work in that field. Lynne was predeceased by her father. She is survived by her mother as well as sisters Sherri and Rene. She is also survived by her husband, Charles Robert Sorrels, daughters Chelsea Dunham (Christopher) and Mackenzie Owens (Michael) as well as her beloved grandson Colton Robert Owens, the light of her life. A memorial service will be held at Fuquay Varina United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 21, 3:00pm, followed by an inurnment ceremony at the church Columbarium. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church in the Centrum from 2:00-3:00pm.
