Obituary
Lee Evans

Holly Springs, North Carolina

Age 64.
Died 10/5/2025.

Lee Henderson Evans, 64, of Holly Springs, North Carolina, passed away on October 5, 2025. He was born on October 6, 1960, in Rochester, New York, to Curtis and Sandra Evans and was raised in Pennsylvania. He graduated from St. Mary’s Area High School in St. Marys, Pennsylvania, in 1978. He was also predeceased by his brother, Scott Evans. Lee attended North Carolina State University, where he met Sheila, his future wife and the love of his life. In addition to earning two degrees, he played clarinet and saxophone in the symphonic and jazz bands and served as drum major and leader of the marching band. He and Sheila welcomed their son, Curtis, whose arrival brought immeasurable pride and joy. Of all the titles and honors Lee earned, the one he cherished most was “Dad.” He shared a dry sense of humor, curiosity, and a love of photography and technology with Curtis, and he delighted in coaching his youth ice hockey team, watching him grow into a kind, respectful, and principled young man. Lee began his career at SAS Institute, where he launched the path that would define his professional life and first discovered his talent for building and leading meaningful work. After advancing through leadership roles in the life sciences industry, he found the role he cherished most at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he was proud of the work he did and the teams he led. Alongside his devotion to family and career, anyone who knew Lee recognized his passion for music, which he carried throughout his life. A talented musician in his younger years, he once substituted as the saxophone player for Bruce Hornsby at a concert in Virginia. His uncredited performance can be heard on the album The Essential Bruce Hornsby (2015), on the song “The End of the Innocence.” Lee will be remembered for his intelligence, integrity, humor, and unwavering kindness, and most of all for the love he showed as a father. His legacy lives on through his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor his memory by donating to the Movember Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness of men’s health. Donations can be made in Lee’s memory at https://us.movember.com/mospace/15375835 May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sunshine warm upon your face. May the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
