Obituary
Joseph Seagroves, Jr.

Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 75.
Died 1/1/2026.

Joseph Nathaniel Seagroves, Jr was called home to Heaven on January 1, 2026. He was lovingly surrounded by family. He was 75 years old. Joseph Nathaniel Seagroves Jr was born on October 29, 1950 in Raleigh, NC. Over the course of his life, he touched the hearts of many with kindness, generosity, and a wonderful sense of humor. He never met a stranger. One of his favorite things to do was to speak to veterans he saw in stores and restaurants and thank them for their service. He was a devoted husband, loving Pop-Pop, and cherished friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Joe served in the US Army from November 1968 until November 1971. Part of his service included a tour of duty in Vietnam, where he served as an Infantry soldier. He was the recipient of a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, a Bronze Star medal, a Combat Infantry badge, and other awards. He loved his country and was proud to have served in the Army. Joe dedicated his professional life to Heating and A/C service work, where he was respected for his integrity and commitment. Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing and gun shows, and found joy in spending time with family and friends, and with his beloved dog, Molly. He loved his grandchildren with all of his heart. He is survived by his wife, Jamie, his son, Charles S. Seagroves (Windee), his stepson, Jeremy Johnson (Dena), sisters, Brenda Howard (Darrell), Linda Ross, and grandchildren, Logan Seagroves, Zack Seagroves, Silas, Bryce, and Vivienne Johnson, who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, and many other family members who were all much loved by Joe. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Nathaniel Seagroves Sr and Mary Belle Raper, his stepfather, Roy Raper, his brothers, Robert Louis Seagroves and Roger Dale Seagroves, his son, Joseph N. Seagroves III and his nephew, Timmy Howard. A memorial service will be held on February 7, 2026 at Triangle Baptist Church, 9713 Old Stage Road, Raleigh, NC with a visitation with the family beginning at 2:15 pm, and the memorial service beginning at 3 pm. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate the life of a remarkable man whose legacy of love and compassion will endure. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Best Friends Pet Adoptions, PO Box 5305, Cary, NC 27512 or online at www.bfpa.org/donate in Joseph Seagroves's honor. Joe Seagroves will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. Rest in peace, Joe. You are loved.
