Obituary
John William Chapman

Cary, North Carolina

Age 92.
Died 8/12/2024.

John (Jack) William Chapman passed away surrounded by family on August 12, 2024. Jack was born in Wichita, Kansas on June 26,1932. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. Jack graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Electrical Engineering and was the owner of JW Chapman and Co. He was the proud father of, and is survived by, Camille Chapman, John Chapman, Carole Marshall (Brian), and Ashley Sobkiw (Boh); stepfather to Jennifer Singh (Pravin) and Amanda Bell (Tom); grandfather to Cullen and Camryn Marshall, Noah and Ian Kliner, Colton, Bryce, and Aubrey Bell, Penelope and Micah Singh; and uncle to Ann Spark (Jim). He was a loving and devoted husband, cherished by his surviving wife Becky with whom he shared 26 years of marriage. Summarizing the extraordinary life of Jack, with all his diverse talents and passions, is no easy feat. He embraced life to its fullest—whether he was piloting an aircraft, serving aboard a Navy ship, working on a submarine, performing in community theater, achieving one of his impressive five hole-in-ones, exploring the globe with Becky, skiing down a mountain, savoring a martini, or sharing the antics of his backyard bird feeders. Jack was truly one of the most fascinating individuals ever to grace this earth. In his honor, let’s strive to live our lives with the same enthusiasm and zest. Jack was a member of Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church and formally a member of Greenwood Forest Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will be held at Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church, 200 High Meadow Dr, Cary, NC on Tuesday, September 3rd at 10:30am. The family wishes to thank the Durham VA Hospice for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Kirk of Kildaire.

For additional information or for service details, please reach out to the family directly.
