Obituary
Jeffrey Kenneth Frerichs

Cary, North Carolina

Age 77.
Died 8/4/2024.

Jeffrey Kenneth Frerichs, age 77 years, of Cary, NC, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1947, he was the son of his late parents Frank and Florayne Frerichs. He was a graduate of Midwood High School in Brooklyn, NY and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree at Long Island University in 1968, and his Master’s degree at New York University in 1974. Jeffrey was on active duty in the US Navy from 1969 to 1971 and was assigned to the anti-submarine warfare group four, US Atlantic fleet. Jeffrey spent over 40 years in the New York City healthcare industry. His career began in hospital administration at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY, then as a Vice President at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York, COO & CEO of Cabrini Medical Center in New York, Consultant & Partner at Witt/Kieffer Executive Search, President & CEO of St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children in Queens, NY and a Manager at Acurity, an organization of the Greater NY Hospital Association, where he previously served as Chairman of the Board. Jeffrey loved to spend time with family and friends, especially his granddaughter Savannah, who he proclaimed, “Grandpa’s Treasure.” He enjoyed good food, a cocktail or two, and having a good time. He was also a passionate NY sports fan and a horse racing aficionado. His enjoyment of music was elevated with appearances as a child on Broadway, and as an adult in the Big Apple Chorus, a barbershop choral group. He took a unique interest in people and was genuinely curious about each individual’s story and their potential. As a true humanitarian, he treated all walks of life equally. Surviving him are his daughter and son-in-law, Gina & Ryan Greissinger of Cary, NC, beloved granddaughter Savannah Reese Greissinger of Cary, NC, and his son, Jeffrey Frerichs Jr. of New York, NY. A celebration of his life will take place for family, friends and colleagues in the fall of 2024 in North Carolina to honor Jeffrey’s lifetime achievements and his legacy. All are welcome.
