Obituary
Jeanette Pleasant Knott

Cary, North Carolina

Age 86.
Died 6/11/2024.

Jeanette Pleasant Knott died peacefully in Duke Raleigh hospital on 6/11/2024 in Raleigh at the age of 86. Jeanette is survived by her children; Ronald Knott, Pamela Hillhouse, Danny Knott and David Knott and her siblings: Kathryn Montague, Gary Pleasant, Michael Pleasant and Ricky Pleasant. She is preceded in death by Carson Bert Knott, husband of 37 years and father to their children and her second husband James E Parkin of Carteret County. Jeanette was born on June 24, 1937, in Harnett County to Willard and Laurine Pleasant. She graduated from Angier High School in 1955. She married Carson Bert Knott, her high school sweetheart from Linden on January 28th, 1956. Bert served in the United States Army Reserve from Oct 1956 to June 2, 1959. The couple, as Golf Pro and wife and their growing family were welcomed into golfing communities in Raleigh, Zebulon, Scotland Neck/Enfield, Roanoke Rapids and Pinetops. She leaves behind the legacy of four children, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren. With the addition of two grandchildren and four great grandchildren in Scotland through her daughter’s second marriage. Her children remember her as a creative, inventive, and energetic mother. The children spent hours at her bedside on the day she passed, recounting many childhood stories, recalling summers at the beach and the many special ways she made their lives memorable. She passed peacefully after the last story was shared. Jeanette was an artist and creative soul and often indulged in gardening, painting, ceramics, reading, decorating, sales and socializing. She was a generous and witty individual who loved having fun and who was skilled at sales and “just about anything she put her hand to.” She was fiercely independent and lived by her own rules. For the last 25 years of her life, her constant companion and buddy was Fred, a feral female cat who adopted her and became an iconic part of her life. A private service will be held at City of Oaks Cremation. Elaine Tola will officiate the ceremony. Please contact the family for service information.. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jeanette’s life.
