Obituary
Jane Ann (Hedges) Comer

Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 78.
Died 1/1/2025.

Surrounded by her children, Jane Ann (Hedges) Comer, 78, passed away peacefully on January 1st, 2025. She is survived by her loving children, Jeff (Linda) Comer, Gwen (Scott) Noecker, Kim (Corey) Czmiel, and Stacey Comer as well as her siblings Jim (Shirley) Hedges, Peggy (Tom) Hedges, John (Therese) Hedges, and Ruthie Hedges. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, many extended family members, dear friends, and her loyal pup Penny. She was preceded in death by her son, Chris Comer (2021) and brother, Mark Hedges (1989). Born on October 16, 1946 to the late James M. and Wilma E. Hedges, Jane, affectionately known as ‘Janie’, grew up in Uniontown, KY, and graduated from Morganfield High School in 1964. Shortly thereafter, she accepted a position to work for the FBI in Washington, DC. She would later live in Virginia and Ohio, and ultimately settle in Raleigh, NC. While raising her family in Raleigh, Jane worked for the Credit Bureau followed by the State of North Carolina’s Department of Environmental Quality, where she dedicated two decades before retiring in 2019. Jane found joy connecting with close friends over coffee, spending time with neighbors, walking her dog, and creating treasured memories with her family. Her creativity and talent shone through her love of sewing, quilting, and gardening. Jane’s kind, humble, and selfless spirit touched everyone who knew her. A devoted mother, a caring sister, soft-spoken aunt, a loyal friend, and a doting Grammy, she will live on in the hearts and memories of all who cherished her. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jane’s life at a garden gathering hosted by her children on May 3, 2025 in Raleigh, NC. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Jane’s memory in one of the following ways: - Perform a kind act for a neighbor. - Register as an organ donor. - Donate blood or platelets through the American Red Cross. - Support the Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University. - Contribute to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation.
