Obituary
Helen Sheridan Miner

Cary, North Carolina

Age 85.
Died 12/26/2024.

Helen S. Miner, May 29, 1939 - December 26, 2024, 85, passed away peacefully at Swift Creek Health Center at The Templeton of Cary, North Carolina. Helen was born in the Bronx of New York City in 1939 to the parents of John and Helen Sheridan. Her parents relocated to northern New York State where she attended Johnsburg Central High School. She obtained her RN degree from Nathan Latour school of nursing in Gloversville, NY in 1961. That same year she married and became the wife of Albert Miner. Her first 22 years of her 42 year nursing career started as a bedside nurse at the Hamilton Avenue hospital in Monticello, NY. After moving to Raleigh, she worked her way up to supervisor at the Wake Med surgical trauma ICU. Her final and most fulfilling 20 years of her nursing career was completed at Duke Medical Center where she traveled throughout the country monitoring drug study protocols. She retired in 2002 and returned to her hometown of North Creek, New York. Helen was a very active member of every community in which she lived. She was the president of the Cary Band boosters for several years, member of the parish advisory board for Saint James Church, served on the board of directors of the Tri County Nursing home in North Creek, New York, and President of the North Creek Depot Museum. Above all her accomplishments was Helen’s love of family. She made every family member feel as if they were her number one priority. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, and grandmother whose faith, integrity and love were her guiding principles in life. Helen is survived by her husband Bert, her four children and their families: Rick (Jamie), Terrie (David), Cindie (Todd), Beckie (Bill) as well as five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. All of those she loved and touched deeply. She is also survived by her sister, Lauraine. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Helen Sheridan, and her brother Wayne and sister Gerrie. A celebration of life and mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church located at 625 Magdala Place, Apex, North Carolina 27502. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Creek Depot Museum, P.O. Box 156, North Creek, New York 12853; phone (518) 251-5842.
