Obituary
Gennaro Addesso

Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 91.
Died 3/10/2024.

Gennaro Addesso (1933-2024) Gennaro "Gene" Addesso 91 of Raleigh died peacefully at his home on Sunday March 10, 2024. Gene was born on February 25, 1933 to Donata and Giovanna Addesso in Brooklynn NY. After graduating high School Gene went on to get a BA Degree in Accounting from Fordham University in NY. Gene was in the Army for 2 years before joining IBM in 1955. On September 30, 1956 Gene married June France. They enjoyed a marriage that lasted 67 years. Gene spent 26 years of his career with IBM in the Hudson Valley before taking on the role as Plant Manager for the Raleigh PC Manufacturing Facility in 1982. Over his 36 year career with IBM he was honored with a number of leadership and manufacturing excellence awards. After retiring in 1991, Gene went on to hold positions on the board of a number of companies. As a board member Gene provided quality, manufacturing and leadership direction to the companies he supported. Gene enjoyed the outdoors but most of all enjoyed spending time at his favorite fishing hole on Kerr Lake. His passion for the lake ran so deep that in 1999 he became president of the Roanoke River Basin Association. For 25 years he led the charge to protect the precious resource that he so loved. Gene enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at the lake, in the pool, golfing and eating great Italian food. He was a Wolfpack fan thru and thru. He particularly enjoyed tailgating at the football games. Gene was an avid golfer. He played 3 or 4 times a week until he was 89. After turning 80, he often would brag that he was able to shoot his age. Gene was predeceased by his brother Joseph and Danny Addesso and his wife June Addesso. Gene is survived by his son Rich Addesso, daughter in law Rebecca Addesso and grandchildren Nicholas and Jacob Addesso. There will be a celebration of life for family and close friends.
