Obituary
Gary Randal Shepherd

Oxford, North Carolina

Age 77.
Died 1/28/2025.

Gary Randal Shepherd, at the age of 77, peacefully passed away January 29, 2025 at Duke Regional. Born in Durham, NC, he was the son of Needham Shepherd and Peggy Shepherd. Gary is survived by his wife, Evonne Shepherd; his children, Mike Shepherd (Partner, Kitty Freeman), Mark Shepherd (Wife, April Shepherd), Kristy Wilson (Husband, Shannon Wilson); his grandchildren, Savannah Harris (Husband, JT Harris), Logan Wilson, Gracie Shepherd; great-grandchild, Maddox Wilson; his sisters, Vickie Harris (Husband, Robby Harris), Becky Fragnito (Husband, Richard Fragnito). Preceded in death, his sister, Diann Shepherd. Gary was such a bright soul that people were lucky to meet. He fought a long battle with Lewy body dementia, but he was still always the light in the room. He was a person who loved instantly and was loved by many. He was an extraordinary business owner of Shepherd Cabinets, Inc. and built beautiful pieces for so many people across several counties. Everyone that knew him knew his most loved things were fishing, piddling with vehicles, and spending every moment he could with his family. He always insisted on having coffee with every meal, he loved going to small grills to get BLT’s, and he enjoyed going to Bojangles most mornings to enjoy the gossip with all of his friends that he made throughout the years. He shared many laughs and made special memories with the people around him. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild fiercely. There will not be a day that goes by that the legacy he has left will not be missed or go unnoticed. He will be missed tremendously by the people he has given the opportunity to know and to love him. “Life is but a moment, yours shows how powerful a moment can be.” “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die; yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die” John 11:25-26
