Obituary
Gary Paul Kosten

Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 49.
Died 6/29/2024.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved family member, Gary Paul Kosten, who went home to be with Jesus on June 29, 2024. He was born August 13, 1974 in SanDiego, CA to Gary and Regena Kosten. Gary is survived by his parents, sister Julie Vanhoy (Mike and daughter, Viktorija), sister Tracey Mullis (Greg and son, Ryder) and brother Timothy Kosten. He had a quick wit, generous heart, an adventurous spirit, and was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. Gary graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1999 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Soon after graduation he began his career with Optima Engineering, in Charlotte. He then went on to open a satellite office in Raleigh in 2013. He enjoyed working with such a collaborative group of people and had a heart for new engineers entering the workforce. He was a great mentor and it gave him great joy to see others succeed. He always encouraged people to be their best and “do good”. Gary enjoyed traveling abroad, music, reading, golf and time with his niece and nephew. Gary would want everyone to know that he is more alive now than ever in the presence of our Lord. He gave his life to Christ just days before leaving this earth. He would want people to know that life is finite and there is hope in Jesus Christ. John 14:6 says, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me” From the outside looking in it would be assumed that Gary was very successful, had all the earthly possession he wanted and the ability to travel anywhere he would want to go. I know he would tell us that these earthly things aren’t important. The most important decision a person will make is regarding their eternity. Gary now has it all. He is healed, loved, enjoying music and great company. As his family, we have the promise of being reunited with him again someday!
