Obituary
Gary Lynn Evans

Four Oaks, North Carolina

Age 74.
Died 10/29/2025.

Gary Lynn Evans
September 14, 1951 – October 29, 2025 Gary Lynn Evans, 74, of Four Oaks, North Carolina, passed away at Transitions LifeCare Hospice on October 29, 2025. Gary was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, on September 14, 1951, to Floyd Herbert Evans and Marion Watson Stutts. He graduated from Walter Hines Page Senior High School in 1969 and proudly served in the United States Air Force near the end of the Vietnam War, stationed in Thailand as a Vietnamese code interpreter and voice processing specialist. He later graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and worked as a computer systems programmer for Carolina Power and Light Company (now Duke Energy) in Raleigh. Gary was known for his devotion to Christ, his sensitive heart, his off-beat sense of humor, and his deep love for his family. An earnest Christian theologian, he enjoyed teaching Bible study and sharing his faith with others. One of his favorite pastimes was building personal computers, a hobby he enjoyed alongside his son Isaac and anyone eager to lend a hand in fine-tuning his machines. He also loved playing the piano and listening to Chopin and Bocelli, reading the latest news in science and politics, and spending time with his beloved dog, Faithful, who preceded him in death. He was a father of five beautiful children. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Pflasterer (Benjamin) of Raleigh; and their children, Ruby and Grace; his son, Isaac Evans (Carmela) of Raleigh, and their son, Samuel; his son, Joseph Evans of Four Oaks; his daughter, Hannah Patula (Casey) of Wendell, and their children, Annelise, Daniel, and Jack; and his daughter, Rebekah Evans (Thomas Spencer) of Raleigh. He is also survived by his sisters, Kimberly Hartsfeld of Pleasant Garden, and Melody Shelton of Elon, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A burial service will be held at Historic Oakwood Cemetery on November 8, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Transitions LifeCare Hospice in Raleigh, NC, or the Durham VA Medical Center at 508 Fulton Street, Durham, NC. Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth the legacy of unconditional love, forgiveness, hope, and laughter that he shared with everyone his final days. John 11:25–26
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Psalm 73:26
My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. John 16:22
And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
