Obituary
Eric Beach

Willow Spring, North Carolina

Age 65.
Died 6/1/2023.

Eric A. Beach, age 65, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones at UNC Rex Hospital. Eric was born in Troy, NY, on October 6, 1957, to Shirley and Dale Beach and grew up in Latham, NY. He graduated from Shaker High School and received an Associate in Applied Science in Mechanical Technology from Hudson Valley Community College. He furthered his education by obtaining a Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Mechanical Engineering at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology). Eric began his career when he moved to Endicott, NY, at IBM in 1980, where he worked until 1995. As a Mechanical Engineer at IBM, his major project was providing manufacturing support for the IBM 3890 Bank Check Sorter. He then furthered his professional career when he started working at Lockheed Martin in 1995. As a Mechanical Engineer at Lockheed Martin, his major projects included design/development engineering for multiple mail sorters/feeders, including ST-3000 & PTI-45, and numerous government contracts, including Marine One helicopter and Tactical Wheeled Vehicles. Even though he was proud of his career, Eric always said he found more joy outside the work office. While working, he found time to own and fix up apartments in Maine, NY. He also built a beautiful home with two of his close friends in Owego, NY. During his retirement, he moved to North Carolina with his family to enjoy the warm weather. He was the most intelligent man who cared deeply for his family. He loved sharing his knowledge with anyone he came across and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Eric was the ultimate handyman and could fix anything, no matter what it was. He enjoyed finding projects around his house and took pride in keeping a well-maintained home. Eric was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed cross-country skiing, kayaking down countless rivers, exploring new walking trails, and enjoying bonfires with his kids. He loved cruising on his 1985 Yamaha motorcycle, taking countless trips and leisurely rides on backroads. He was an avid boater who enjoyed boating on Cayuga Lake in Ithaca, NY on his Bayliner motorboat; where he created unforgettable memories with his family. Eric is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Beach of 31 years; his son Brad Beach and his daughter Erica Beach; stepmother Joan Beach; his sister-in-law Sandra Rhoades; niece and nephew, Amelia Beach and Jon Beach. Eric was predeceased by his dad Dale Beach, his mother, Shirley Wheeler Beach, and brother Jeffrey Beach.
