Obituary
Eric Andrew Manzon

Durham, North Carolina

Age 64.
Died 12/15/2024.

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Eric Andrew Manzon, who left us on December 15, 2024 at the age of 64 after a brief illness. Eric was a devoted family man, friend and colleague, known for his intelligence, enthusiasm, sense of humor and musical talent. Eric was born on March 20, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York. A gifted student, Eric excelled academically, graduating with honors from Middletown High School in 1978. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Studies from Northwestern University in 1982, followed by a Master’s in Computer Science from Clemson University in 1984. Eric's career in Information Technology (IT) spanned over 35 years where he worked as a Systems Engineer and then as a Consultant before retiring in 2022. His colleagues describe him as talented, dedicated, and always willing to lend a hand, with a rare ability to simplify complex topics and a natural charm that made him beloved by all. Eric’s determination and integrity shone through in everything he did. Whether at work, with family, friends or in his hobbies, he approached life with focus, enthusiasm, and a constant drive to exceed expectations. He had an infectious energy and a heart of gold—always showing up for others and making them feel valued. Even during his illness, Eric remained positive and was quick to make a joke to keep those around him upbeat. We will always remember Eric as a model of strength, dignity, and love until the very end. Words cannot express how much we will all miss him. Eric is survived by his wife, Laura; his daughter, Fran (Chelsea) from his first wife, Carol, and his son-in-law, Jonathan (Jon); his mother and stepfather, Harriet and Marvin; his father and stepmother, Seymour (Sy) and Kathy; his sister, Alison and her fiancé, Jim; his stepsister, Lisa and brother-in-law, Mike; his brother, Hal; his grandson, Gabriel (Gabe); his nephews and nieces, Brian, Michelle, Stanley, and Lea; his mother-in-law, Roberta; his father-in-law, Charles; his sister-in-law, Leslie, and his 2 cats. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of the following organizations, all of which were very close to Eric’s loving heart: • Triangle Youth Ballet -an annual scholarship set up in Eric's memory (triangleyouthballet@gmail.com) • The Northshore Animal League (www.animalleague.org) • Animal Protection Society of Durham, NC (www.apsofdurham.org)
