Douglas Edwards Rodgers

Douglas Edward Rodgers October 31, 1944 – September 13, 2025 Douglas Edward Rodgers, of Durham, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on September 13, 2025, at the age of 80. Born in Newark, New Jersey, on October 31, 1944, Doug proudly served in the U.S. Navy and enjoyed a long and dedicated career with Verizon Telecommunications. He was deeply respected by his colleagues and maintained close friendships throughout his life. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Veals; his sons, Andrew and his wife Mindi, and Kevin and his wife Maureen; his grandson, Aidan; his stepdaughter, Dana Jonske and her husband Lou, and their children Joey and Robbie; his stepson, Scott Veals and his wife Jeannine, and their children Kathryn and Michael. He was predeceased by his parents, George Albert Rodgers and Margery Alberta Kerr, and his siblings Elizabeth Gerstrung, Virginia Groh, James Rodgers, and Dennis Rodgers. He is survived by his sister, Margery Desantis, and many nieces and nephews. Doug will be remembered for his love of photography, his time spent at the local range with friends, and his unwavering devotion to family. A memorial service will be held at Providence Church, located at 6339 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, North Carolina, 27612. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Church or to Transitions Hospice Care at 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, North Carolina, 27607.
