Dolores Ewald

Cary, North Carolina

Age 92.
Died 5/24/2024.

Dolores Faye Schwartz Ewald of Cary passed away peacefully at home on Friday May 24, 2024. She was born in September 5, 1931 in Marinette, WI to Leo and Clara Schwartz. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Irene Zorn, Eleanore Schwartz, Elaine Olive, Betty Adams, and brothers Billy Schwartz and Duane Schwartz She married Gerhard Ewald in Peshtigo, WI on July 11, 1953. They began their married life in Anchorage, Alaska where they started their family. After 2 1/2 years, they returned to Wisconsin; where their family grew. They moved to Cary, NC in January of 1965. She became active in The Martha Circle at Christ the King Lutheran Church and played softball. Dolores lived a long and eventful life where she enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, playing Dominos and winning card games. She relished in Tar Heel victories and visits from her children, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She leaves behind her husband of 70 years, Gerry; her children Dennis (Cheri) of Southport, NC; son Scott of Cleveland, TN; Terry (Susi) of Durham, NC and daughter Cindy (Eddie) of Raleigh, NC. She also leaves behind her 6 grandchildren; Sarah Ewald, Erin Ewald, Caroline Bonchick (Anthony), Christine Whatley, Adam Ewald (Cait) and Faith Oddon (Jeffrey) and 6 great grandchildren; Braelyn, Sloan, Kenan, Whit, Harper and Colin. She also leaves behind sisters Arlene Kuffel, Joan Lesperance, Janice Puls, Shirley Kotarek (Sonny) and brother Walter Schwartz (Alene). Per her wishes, there will be no public services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the charity of your choice.
