Craig Potter

Cary, North Carolina

Age 62.
Died 12/2/2021.

Craig Steven Potter, 62 years old, sailed away into a beautiful red sunset on December 2, 2021. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family at Duke University Hospital after battling a progressive case of interstitial lung disease. He is preceded in death by his father, Burton Winfield Potter, and is survived by his wife Shannon Luxford, sons Curtis Potter, Kyle Potter (Margaret Potter), Lucas Potter, stepson Noah Luxford (Brittney Luxford), grandchildren Emma Potter, Jesse Potter, mother Jean Potter, and siblings Brian Potter, Cheryl Mills, David Potter, and Troy Ellis. Craig was an unusually intelligent and adventurous man. He enjoyed sky diving, competitive sailing, scuba diving, fishing, camping, backpacking, entomology, fine wood working, rock hounding, professional model building and designing and launching model rockets throughout his life. He was a superb problem solver and enjoyed mechanical engineering. He pursued all things related to science, nature, cooking, baking, creating and learning. He thrived embracing intellectual challenges. He was most in his element teaching complex concepts to anyone willing to listen. He could find the best design solution for any complicated problem. Craig is loved deeply by his wife, sons, family and friends. He will be forever missed and never forgotten. We wish him fair winds and following seas. A celebration of his life will be Saturday, December 11th at 1 PM. Benson Memorial United Methodist Church 4706 Creedmoor Rd, Raleigh, NC 27612 Masks required.
