Obituary
Carol Williamson

Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 77.
Died 8/18/2023.

Heaven gained another angel on Friday… Carol Diane Williamson, 77, of Raleigh, NC passed away on August 18th, surrounded by her loving family.   Carol was born on April 3rd, 1946 to Jean and Donald Rhoton in Columbus, Ohio. After Carol graduated Oak Park River Forest High School in 1964, she went on to study at Albion College.   After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree, she began the glamorous career of a PanAm flight attendant in the late 1960s (which was a big deal back in those days). She later went on to teach Home Economics and Health Safety at Beach High School in Savannah, GA, before obtaining her Masters in Counseling from Georgia Southern College, and becoming a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, while also raising two young children.   In 1981, while working a summer job at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Savannah, GA, a young Savannah Police Officer noticed a good looking reception associate working a seasonal shift. Carol and H.B. went on to join their families in 1986, parenting Melinda Williamson, Andrea Shepherd and Jeffrey Wells.   Carol retired after 10 years of teaching in Savannah, GA and 22 years as a Counselor in Granville County Schools, to spend time with her loving husband, 3 children and 8 grandchildren, whom she visited often. Carol was a child of God who believed wholeheartedly in the scripture and its preaching’s. We found a hand written note of hers providing some life guidance, and this is truly how she lived her life:   * Hate no one, no matter how much they have wronged you * Live humbly, no matter how wealthy you become * Think positively, no matter how hard life gets * Give much, even if you have been given little * Forgive all, especially yourself * And never stop praying for the best for everyone   Carol was predeceased by her parents, Jean Clauss & Donald Rhoton and parents-in-law,  Pearl & Horace Williamson. She is survived by her husband, H.B. Williamson; siblings: John Rhoton (Mary Rhoton), June Rhoton, Janet Rhoton; in-laws: Carolyn Chapman (Toby Chapman), Danny Williamson (Shirley Williamson), Joy Croom (the late Ray Griffin); Children: Melinda Williamson, Andrea Shepherd (Johnny Shepherd), Jeffrey Wells (Erin Wells); Grandchildren: Lena Williamson-Diaz, Cade Shepherd, Elie Williamson-Diaz, Cole Shepherd, Brooklyn Shepherd, Lincoln Wells, Mckinley Wells and Harper Wells.   A celebration of life will be held at Saint Philip Lutheran Church, 7304 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh, NC on Saturday, September 23rd at 2pm. Carol loved vibrant colors, attendees are asked to wear color, as she wanted this to be a celebration.
