Carl John Cash

Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 81.
Died 4/3/2025.

Carl John Cash passed away at age 81 at his home in Raleigh, North Carolina on Thursday, April 3, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Tina and daughter, Rayne; son Ryan of Marina Del Rey, California; grandsons Caleb and Cameron Coats of Cary, North Carolina; and sister Colleen(Pastor Charles) of Palm Coast, Florida. His career in the Federal Government spanned more than 30-years and included seven years in the Army and service with the Department of Interior in Colorado, the Geological Survey in Virginia, and the Environmental Protections Agency in Raleigh, North Carolina. John was born in Washington, DC but traveled throughout the world during his childhood, as the son of a career Army father. He attended 12 schools in 12 years, moving from DC to Brazil at age three, then to Kansas, Indiana, Eniwetok Island, then to Maryland. After graduation, his family moved to Germany where John attended the University of Maryland in Munich, then moved to the States to complete his education at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. John was a gifted athlete throughout his life and excelled in every sport he played, from childhood through his senior years. His passion for sports included baseball, basketball, football, track, marathon running, and golf. He won a variety of club championships, contests and awards during his 60+ years of playing golf. His light will be missed by so many who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh on April 30th at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in his honor.
