Obituary
Bruce Hill

Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 81.
Died 2/4/2023.

Bruce Cordell Hill entered his eternal rest through faith in Christ on February 4, 2023 at his home in Raleigh comforted by the love of his family both near and far. Bruce was born in Beaufort County, North Carolina on May 3, 1941. He grew up in the Haw Branch Community, graduating from Chocowinity High School in 1959 before enlisting in the United States Army in early 1961. He served the Army’s Adjutant General Corp until his honorable discharge after 3 years of service. After returning to Eastern North Carolina, he enrolled at East Carolina Teacher’s College before starting employment as a car salesman. Throughout Bruce’s life he fostered a hobby of buying and selling cars, maintaining a dealer’s license through career transitions. Bruce was an insurance consultant for most of his professional life, serving various companies including American Bankers, BCBSNC, & Sedgewick James. In 1999, perceiving an entrepreneurial window created by the digital age and federal privacy laws, he started Docushred, LLC. Bruce leaves a legacy of kindness and generosity. Although he did not love large crowds, he never met a stranger. He was kind to everyone and was always willing to help someone else. Bruce treasured his family and sacrificed for them throughout his life. He gave with joy and love without expecting anything in return. Second to loving his family was an abiding love for the Pamlico River, Blount’s Bay and his home at the mouth of Blount’s Creek. The Pamlico River was special, in part, because he professed his faith in Jesus through baptism in its waters. For the last several years, Bruce was member at Christ Baptist Church in Raleigh, faithfully participating from home every week, even his last on earth despite limited mobility. Bruce will be missed by his wife Barbara; children Tim, Chris, Joanna Yonts (Joel), Jeffrey Salisbury (Jennifer); Grandchildren Walker Hill, Johanna, Carolina, & Cooper Salisbury; brother Don (Pam), & beloved nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother & father (Clyde Buron Hill, Dora Lee Edwards Hill Walker), his brother Julius Rayvon Hill & sister Judy Adams. Ever giving of himself, Bruce donated his body to the UNC School of Medicine, desiring to serve the medical community and future patients. A celebration of his life will be held at Bay Leaf Baptist Church, 12200 Bay Leaf Church Road, Raleigh, NC 27614 on February 13, 2023 at 11am. A 10 am visitation will precede the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Sound Rivers (soundrivers.org) so that future generations can enjoy the Pamlico River as he did.
