Brenda B Millar

Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 78.
Died 1/29/2025.

Brenda Byrum Millar, 79, passed away on January 29, 2025, at Duke Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born on March 8, 1945, in Durham, North Carolina, Brenda was the daughter of the late Claiborne and Ophelia Byrum. She grew up in Durham and graduated from Durham High School. In 1964, she graduated from Kings Business College in Charlotte, North Carolina. On June 4, 1966, Brenda married John T. Millar, with whom she shared a devoted commitment spanning nearly six decades. She is survived by her husband; her sons Kenneth Millar (wife Shauna) and Kevin Millar; her cherished grandchildren Matt, Chris, Bryan, and Megan; her treasured great-grandchildren Cheyenne and Silas; and her brother Robert Byrum of Raleigh, North Carolina. Brenda dedicated more than 40 years of her life to serving the United States Government in various capacities. Her distinguished career included roles with the Environmental Protection Agency, the Internal Revenue Service, the United States Air Force, and the United States Army Ordnance Research at Duke University. A woman of deep faith, Brenda was an active member of her church community. She founded and led Prayer Shawl Ministries at several locations for many years, offering comfort and care to countless individuals through her heartfelt creations. Known for her generosity and willingness to help others, Brenda's kindness left a lasting impact on those around her. Brenda found immense joy in spending time with her family. Loving her grandchildren as they grew into adulthood left a lasting impression of reciprocal love. She was especially delighted in the presence of her great-grandchildren. “Nana” easily held the attention and hearts of her family members. A talented artist and skilled crafter, Brenda expressed her vibrant spirit through beautiful works that will be treasured by many friends and family for years to come. Brenda’s life was a testament to love, faith, and service. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. May her memory bring comfort and peace to those she leaves behind.
