Obituary
Bonnie Jo Carpenter

Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 77.
Died 4/23/2025.

Bonnie Jo Carpenter, 77, passed away after surviving several years of cancer, on April 23, 2025 with her family by her side. She was born June 29, 1947, in Williamston, MI to Doran and Marlowe (Dexter) Hart. She was preceded in death by her father Doran in 1982, granddaughter Alicyn Johnson in 1995, husband Dennis Carpenter in 2002, and brother Rod Hart in 2010. She is survived by her 100-year old mother Marlowe; sister Carol (Ken) Lycos, brothers Denis (Nancy) Hart and Robert (Kelli) Hart; daughter Holly Johnson, son Jason Carpenter; grandchildren Marcus, Ciara and Dominic Johnson; Casey White, Jackson and Caleb Carpenter, and Julia (Tristan) Fenby; great grandson Gianni Johnson and great granddaughter Jovie Fenby; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bonnie was a retirement planning specialist and health insurance liaison while serving 28 years as the executive director of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, a very large nonprofit organization located in Lansing. The organization serves ALL public school employees who retired from Michigan public schools. She retired in 2011. She also volunteered several years as the Memorial Lutheran church and school secretary in the 1970s. Bonnie's passion in life was her family and her faith. She was a WELS Lutheran and member of Memorial Ev. Lutheran Church in Williamston for 72 years; Ascension Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, NC, for 3 years; Zion Lutheran Church in Lansing for 1 year; and at her death at Refuge Durham Church in Durham, NC. There will be no public celebration of her life. The legacy she has left behind is that Jesus is her, and your, Savior; He conquered death at His resurrection; He is ever present as the true God! Jesus was with her her whole life, even at her death. She is now resting in His Peace forever.
