Obituary
Arthur Allen Duncil

Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 79.
Died 8/17/2024.

Arthur “Allen” Duncil of Raleigh, NC, passed away on August 17th, at WakeMed Hospital after a brief illness. Allen was born on December 26, 1944, in Morgantown, WV, where he attended Morgantown High School and was active in the boy scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from West Virginia University in 1966 with a degree in advertising and marketing. After college, Allen moved to Charlotte to join the National Guard, and shortly thereafter, met his wife Connie, whom he married in August of 1970. After his time in the National Guard, Allen transitioned into real estate, first in the field of property management, with the community of Park Place in South Charlotte. Allen developed a lifelong passion for real estate and spent the next five decades of his award-winning career focusing on marketing and sales, residential building and land development. He managed and operated real estate companies in Charlotte, Goldsboro, Apex, Cary, and Raleigh. He designed and developed residential neighborhoods in Raleigh, including Madison Park—an authentic Charleston-style neighborhood—Harden Place, and Suncrest Village. Allen is survived by his wife Connie of Raleigh, NC, his daughter Courtney Duncil of Charlotte, NC, his daughter Allison Duncil of Manalapan, NJ, cousins Laura Jamison of Fort Mill, SC, and Susan Jones of Norfolk, VA, sister-in-laws Peggy Efird (Frank) of Wilmington, NC, and Georgianna McCanless of Iron Station, NC, and brother-in-law George McCanless (Rebecca) of Macon, GA. Allen was preceded in death by his father Orde Duncil, his mother Evelyn McClure and his sister Sally Duncil all of Morgantown, WV. Allen's greatest joy was spending time with his wife, his two daughters, and their dog, Lincoln. He especially loved spending weekends and holidays at the beach with his family. Allen found happiness in talking to people, had a keen sense of humor, and a knack for telling jokes. He always had an optimistic outlook on life and loved listening to soft rock on the radio. He loved sending out daily positive quotes to family and friends. Allen was known for being a sharp dresser and had a dapper sense of style. A celebration of Allen’s life will be held on Saturday, October 12, at 2pm in the Jones Chapel common room on the campus of Meredith College in Raleigh.
